To bring ‘Best Shape’ to life, we partnered with six inspirational ladies who told us exactly what it meant to them to achieve their Best Shape. Scroll down to read their stories, get underwear-ready ahead of the Christmas party season and find your own Best Shape.
Best Shape has nothing to do with your size, or your shape even! It’s a feeling rather than the way you actually look. To me, if you’re healthy, happy and confident, then that’s so much more important than the size of your jeans.
After having my baby girl less than a year ago, I’ve had to deal with so many changes to my body and I’m now learning to work with the new shape I have. There are some days when I count having a shower as an achievement so I know that being able to treat myself to some beautifully designed lingerie that fits perfectly, will go a long way to making me feel more together and confident.
I usually can’t wait to take off my bra after a long day but this Ultimo bra is so comfortable I almost forgot I had it on!
I have always been naturally skinny and taken it for granted. But recently, I’ve fallen out of love with my shape and just don’t have the same confidence I used to. I’ve always had a small chest and unfortunately, nasty comments from my school days have really stuck with me. For me, it’s a balance – I like a bra which is padded enough to give me a little boost, but equally, I’d love to wear delicate lacy lingerie without feeling like I look like I’m flat chested!
Best Shape means learning to love your body for what it is and to accept that there’s no such thing as the ‘perfect’ body! Us women spend so long looking at celebrities, magazines and social media, obsessing over unrealistic body images when in fact, we should spend a bit more time celebrating the natural shape we’ve been given!
The ladies I met at the photoshoot are all different shapes and sizes and they are all gorgeous and so inspiring! We should really put less pressure on ourselves. I've gained some of my confidence back which I am so thankful for.
Best shape has nothing to do with how you look, it’s all about being happy and confident in your own skin. I do take good care of myself and I’m lucky to have the ability to look after my body by nourishing it with good food and staying active. However, after having children my body changed quite a bit and I had to learn to love my new shape.
Confidence is key and I think if you feel great on the inside, it really shows on the outside. Meeting these ladies and hearing stories about their own body confidence issues has been truly inspiring and I now feel empowered to show off and celebrate my best shape.
Your best shape is the one that makes you happy – it’s as simple as that! I also think it’s important that you look your best for you, not for anyone else.
Part of the reason I wanted to have my own Best Shape experience and take part in this photoshoot was because I have young children and I want to teach them the importance of body confidence. As women, we shouldn’t be afraid to celebrate our natural shape.
My underwear makeover left me feeling more confident than ever and I know that having great-fitting lingerie will not only make my clothes sit better on my body, but will make me feel fabulous too.
Once guilty of obsessing over fad diets and always on a desperate search for the perfect ‘bikini body’ (that doesn’t exist, by the way!), Best Shape now has a much deeper meaning for me.
I have Crohn’s disease and over the past 16 years, I have experienced numerous surgeries and hospital stays and seen my body become weak, malnourished and underweight.
Now I’m at the happiest and healthiest I’ve been in a long time and I can truly say that, to me, Best Shape means being strong, healthy and proud of your body. My experience with Crohns disease has made me appreciate how amazing the human body really is.
Best Shape has nothing to do with the size of your waist or the length of your legs, it’s about embracing the natural beauty of our bodies. Living with scars, a stoma and a Hickman line is part of my natural beauty and it is important to recognise that uniqueness in body shape does not exclude you from enjoying beautiful things. For me, great fitting, elegant and feminine lingerie gives me the confidence and pride to fully embrace and celebrate the body I have.
I’ve always been a fan of Ultimo so I jumped at the chance to find my ‘Best Shape’. I have a bigger chest but I’ve always believed that doesn’t mean you need to wear an ugly bra. It’s great to see there are some lovely, feminine styles out there – not just boring, un-sexy nude designs!
I have a huge underwear wardrobe and know that wearing great underwear makes garments sit on my body so much better – especially when it comes to Christmas parties or special occasions. The right underwear also gives me a confidence boost. For me, if I feel great on the inside and think it shows. ‘Best Shape’ is about being comfortable with the way you look, finding your best bits and not being afraid to show them off.
